Showgrounds siding

The tramway in Epsom Rd and Union rd was renewed late last year and the third track in Union Rd was shortened. I reported that to TDU then - see: https://tramsdownunder.blogspot.com/2025/12/re-track-renewal-at-epsom-rd-union-rd.html There are three tracks, the outbound track and two inbound tracks. In normal times the centre track is used for inbound trams which only move into the alignment with the other inbound track at the platform stop near Epsom Rd. However, when large events are on at the Showgrounds or Flemington Racecourse the centre track is reserved for short shunting trams and storage of the storage of extra trams and the inbound track on the east side is used for regular services. In the first attached pic 169 is swing onto the eastern track and 2065 has just shunted and will go onto the centre track. Second pic shows the view looking south soon after.
