Matthew Geier <matthew@sleeper.apana.org.au>: May 31 09:31PM +1000It probably hasn't helped that the locally built battery-electric buseshave proven to be unreliable, if the Chinese are turning out cheaper andmore reliable vehicles....A lot of the buy local rhetoric has been 'buy Aussie and get a betterproduct'. But what happens when the local is not only more expensive butnoticeably inferior? If we are going to pay more to support local industry, the product needs tobe at least equivalent in quality/reliability to the import.(I gather one of the reasons that Sydney is so short of buses and neededthese Chinese imports in a hurry is the number of Custom Denning Elementsout of service.)On Sat, 31 May 2025 at 10:05, 'TP' via TramsDownUnder < TP <historyworks@smartchat.net.au>: May 31 05:02AM -0700Actually it's the backlog in rolling out charging infrastructure that'scausing new buses to be stored out of service. There's nothing wrong with the Element 2s. A lot of electric buses aretaken out of service as a result of drivers misinterpreting advisorys asfaults and then the depots calling in the manufacturers instead of fixingissues themselves. Give them all a few years and they'll become familiarwith electric buses.Tony POn Saturday, 31 May 2025 at 21:32:28 UTC+10 Matthew Geier wrote:
