Re: [TramsDownUnder] Southern Gold Coast residents' opinions to be favoured in another Stage 4 light rail survey,,

There is plenty more to that story. Some people have pointed out that residents of the entire Gold Coast will be paying the council share of any extension so their thoughts are as valid as anybody else.

The LNP has a history of disinterest in any expenditure on the tram line. When Campbell Newman was premier until around 2013, his government did not put a cent towards the essential stage 2 to the railway which was initiated as soon as there was a change of government and resulted in it being built in time for the Commonwealth Games in 2018.

The government knows that there is a noisy number of NIMBYs in Palm Beach and no doubt is hoping that their opinions will weigh supreme giving the government a good excuse for scrapping the project. Wait and see.
