The "Nowell" photograph brings to notice the wide variations amongst the Hobart tram fleet. Although of the same body type, No 30 is fitted with a Peckham "long wheelbase" truck whereas No 22 has (I think) a Brill 21E truck.

I assume that the attached pic by one of the Nowell brothers illustrates what you say about the driver windscreen changes.
